Health Counseling is an opportunity for a client to focus on and talk about their health concerns and goals with a trained professional. Through my practice, I create a supportive environment consisting of one-on-one consultations that enables you to achieve and maintain your goals. Some things I help clients with include:
managing weight
increasing energy levels
detoxing
improving relationships with food
incorporating healthy eating into busy schedules
understanding cravings
I have studied all of the major dietary theories and know that no one diet works for everyone. Most approaches to nutrition dwell on calories, carbs, fats, and proteins. Denial and discipline don’t work — instead of creating lists of restrictions or “good” and “bad” foods, I help clients navigate the world of contradictory nutrition advice to determine what works best for them. As a health counselor, I provide ongoing support and guidance and help you create a completely personalized nutrition program that suits your unique body, lifestyle, preferences, and goals.
A lot of people have the notion that eating well costs a lot of money and that cooking is a hassle. Plain and Healthy Cooking teaches clients that eating healthy, home-cooked meals doesn’t have to be expensive, difficult, or flavorless. With a very individualized approach, I create easy-to-follow menus and teach clients skills they’d like to learn. I also help clients make some of their favorite recipes more nutritious (but no less delicious!). No matter what we cook, how to handle leftovers is always covered — nothing goes to waste. Whether you’re looking to make easy weeknight meals, pack healthier lunches, or cook for a crowd, Plain and Healthy Cooking can help.
My life is in food, doing editorial work and test kitchen assistance for photo shoots. I am also a Certified Holistic Health Counselor. My love for food and cooking started early, and was soon followed by a deep interest in the quality of my ingredients, as well as health and nutrition. I view food as medicine and take a holistic and preventive approach to my health. On my own, I have studied and have experience with macrobiotics, raw foods, vegan and vegetarian diets. Formally, I have studied over a hundred dietary theories, and a variety of practical lifestyle coaching methods. With a background in dance, and years of yoga practice under my belt, I firmly believe movement plays a huge part in well-being. I work with clients to improve their health and find balance by making simple, sustainable changes. I also work with clients to improve their cooking skills — from holding a knife properly, to planning a menu, to shopping for the right ingredients — so they can feel more confident and comfortable in their kitchens.
